TEXAS DISCO ROAD RUNNER PAST RALLIES

Here is where you can read all about our past rallies. Come join us at future rally and be part of the fun!

December 2007 Rally in Victoria, Texas

This was not a rally to attend if you were on a diet. Monday night found us with a covered dish dinner with a great fried turkey and ham as the main course. The RV park manager Donny, with his cute dog Charlie at his side, proved us with a fried fish dinner with all the trimmings on Tuesday night. Left over night was on Wednesday and it was just as great as the first time. We closed with all of going to a Chinese buffet on Thursday night. And I didn’t even mention two great lunch time stops.

OK, so much for all the food! The Victoria area has a lot of history so we visited the Museum of the Coastal Bend. There were many displays and one mentioned that the word Cowboy originally meant “thief & cattle rustler.” Also, one of the first cattle drives was from Texas to New Orleans where a $5.00 calf would bring $12.00.

The Presidio La Bahia in Goliad was very interesting, particularly because of a talk by historian Deloris Hargrove. The Presidio was originally called The Fort on the Bay, and it was the most fought over fort in Texas history, having seen participation in six National Revolutions/wars. While in Goliad, stop by the court house square (north side) and view the hanging tree (no longer in use).

We hope to see everyone at the January rally.
